We are still on Fall Break at our house and the girls are LOVING no school!!
When there is no school that means I become the Activity Committee at our house. Drives me CrAzY to hear “I’m Bored!”. So today we made coloring shirts. Let me show you how…
What you will need…
Coloring Book Page
Black paint and brush (I used the Folk Art Acrylic Paint, Metallic Sequin Black it has glitter in it)
First thing you need to do is copy your coloring book page onto some Freezer Paper.
(There are a lot of GREAT tutorials out there for Freezer Paper Stencils. Check out Summer Childe it’s one of the best I’ve seen!)
Next you are going to use your X-Acto knife to carefully cut out your picture. You are then going to lay the pieces onto your t-shirt (SHINY SIDE DOWN!) then iron them in place.
Should look something like this when you are done. Every where there isn’t paper there will be paint.
Now is where the kids can start to have some fun. Anything Messy is Kid approved!! Let them paint their pictures. *Make sure you put another piece of Freezer paper in the middle of the shirt so the paint doesn’t bleed through!
Then you need to let them dry completely. About 45 minutes.
Once they are dry remove all of the freezer paper, it will just pull off.
Now comes another kid approved part! Pull out the crayons and let them go wild!
Here is what mine looked like once I finished coloring. It’s not just a kid craft, it’s SUPER fun!!
After you are done coloring, put a paper towel over it and iron it on high. Some of the crayon will come off on the paper towel.
Next wear them proudly! We made these for our pajama shirts.
Don’t worry we made one for the King of this house too. I think it goes well with the Fancy Nancy Shoes!
